Christopher Community provides housing opportunities for people of low and moderate means, including seniors, families, individuals and the disabled. We offer more than 3,000 subsidized units in a variety of settings across upstate New York.
Housing communities range from a 150-unit elderly community to beautiful single family housing - each uniquely created to enhance meaningful living, and ensuring comfort and affordability.
Housing for the disabled is available for both seniors and families.
Senior Housing
These communities provide access and accommodations for seniors and/or disabled individuals in a variety of upstate New York settings.
We offer subsidized rental assistance to residents who meet financial eligibility requirements.
Family Housing
We provide housing for families, single persons and older adults who meet income eligibility requirements. Housing is available in many forms - from single-family homes to multi-unit complexes. Additionally, some units are handicapped- accessible and are reserved for people who require the special features of the unit.
Section 8 Housing Program
Since 1977 Christopher Community has administered the Federal Rental Assistance Program (referred to as Section 8) for Onondaga County. We provide rent subsidies for more than 600 seniors, families and disabled individuals located throughout Onondaga County. We also provide referral services for families in need of social services. Our partners include Onondaga County Department of Social Services, Neighborhood Legal Services, Child Abuse Prevention Program, Family Counseling Services and other similar programs.
